About the work
As a probable result of climate change, summer 2018 was a particularly sunny one in London.
With a red pencil, Anderson began to follow the moving lines of the sun entering through the window panes onto a white page, allowing for a slow and meditative space – like a cosmic reflection.
One must remember that light is only visible if it encounters an object. “In empty space, even if he is bathed in sunlight, an astronaut will only see black ink”, says Nobel astrophysicist Trinh Xuan Thuan.
By intercepting the waves’ path, the studio windows, the floor, and the paper sheets function as developers. In a way, without them, light would not be perceived; on the other hand, without light, they would remain invisible. This symbiosis is what makes the world go around.
