About the work
The drawings remains I and remains II are from my latest drawing series made with the technique of marbling, which I started to work with in 2010 with the series called Corona, followed by Refractions, and the on-going series Scattered Rainbows among others. For the remains series I start by making a Scattered Rainbow, but take most of the drawing off the surface of the water again and transfer only the ‘remains’, the leftovers, onto the paper. Inspired by John Cage’s Ryoanji drawings and Roni Horn’s Cut-Drawings, they are poetic notations of working between what I want and plan, and coincidence and chance.
